U.S. ARMY GARRISON HUMPHREYS – Brayden Snow chose a good time to start participating in the Exchange’s You Made the Grade program—he won the third-place prize his first time entering the worldwide sweepstakes.

Military kids like Brayden in first through 12th grade with a B or higher grade average can bring their report card into the Exchange every grading period for a $10 or $20 gift card and an Exchange coupon sheet that includes vouchers for free meals at the food court, a free haircut, PX savings and more. Students can then enter the worldwide sweepstakes for a chance at a $2,000, $1,500 or $500 Exchange gift card twice a year. Brayden’s entry was randomly selected from more than 1,800 entries.

Brayden’s father, Mark Snow, is a U.S. Department of State civilian with 20 years of service assigned to U.S. Forces Korea. He appreciates the incentive the academic program provides to students.

“It encourages children to do well in school and strive to do better in the future,” Snow said. “The reward system works, the benefits are excellent and the kids really enjoy all the free items.”

Brayden, who is entering fourth grade at Humphreys West Elementary, received his prize in a presentation at the PX on Aug. 8. He plans to use his winnings to buy a computer or an iPad. With his family, he’s a frequent visitor to the PX.

“I like the electronics section because I can try out different computers and games,” he said.

Brayden excels at math (his favorite subject, along with P.E.) and wants to be an engineer when he grows up.

“Brayden enjoys solving puzzles and doing math problems,” his father said. “He’s a dedicated and well-behaved student. He is responsible and always completes his school assignments early or on time.”

USAG Humphreys Exchange General Manager George McNamara helped present Brayden with his prize.

“This young man has a bright future ahead of him,” McNamara said. “It’s a treat for the Exchange to be part of his academic journey and to reward him for all the hard work he’s put into his studies.”
