This Chuseok holiday, if you’re wondering where to go, Gwanghwamun Square’s Sejongro Park offers the perfect destination.
Seoul’s popular food market, the K-Food Festival Neongneok, will extend its operating hours from September 16-18, featuring a festive atmosphere with traditional games and performances to celebrate the holiday.
Neongneok is a Korean food-focused market that has been held at Sejongro Park since May, running every Friday to Sunday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Starting September 26th, it will also open on Thursdays. The festival offers an array of Korean dishes, including nurungji chicken, kimchi bacon cheese jeon, and pumpkin sikhye, all presented through unique K-food trucks designed to appeal to both locals and international visitors.
Alongside the food offerings, Neongneok provides a variety of experiences, such as a large photo wall collaboration between “Seoul My Soul” and Coca-Cola, Seoul’s character statues ‘Haechi & Seoul Friends,’ and multiple zones for dining and relaxing. Live performances will also take place, enhancing the vibrant festival atmosphere.
Since its opening, Neongneok has attracted around 120,000 visitors, solidifying its place as one of Seoul’s must-visit festivals.
For the Chuseok holiday, Neongneok will run daily from September 13-18, with extended hours from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. from the 16th to the 18th.
Special Chuseok-themed events will include the sale of Songpyeon (Korean rice cakes), traditional Korean games such as archery and yutnori, and giveaways like tasting coupons and Haechi-themed pillows.
On September 16, an exciting traditional game event will feature archery and large-scale yutnori games, with prizes up for grabs.
Visitors can also enjoy live performances on September 14 and 15 at 5:30 p.m., including magic shows, guitar, flute, and accordion performances, with cozy seating provided on beanbags.
Neongneok is conveniently located near Gwanghwamun Station (Exit 1 or 8) and Gyeongbokgung Station (Exit 6).
