KUNSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- Staff Sgt. Alejandro Castro, 8th Medical Group physical therapy non-commissioned officer in charge, was selected as Kunsan Air Base’s Pride of the Pack for the week of 3-7 July.

Castro was selected for demonstrating exceptional leadership in leading a two man team during an emergency and neutralizing chemical contaminants for four patients.

Castro was shocked when notified he had won as his supervisor did not inform him of his nomination.

“This was a pleasant surprise,” said Castro. “The award made me feel great, it made me feel seen, it made me feel a part of the team and that my team cares about me.”

Castro was also the project officer for the medical team’s new Medical Group commander immersion where he organized and synced with 19 members in conducting 19 mission briefs.

Castro then noted how his leadership gives him the freedom to be able to do all these things.

“In physical therapy we have a lot of autonomy to treat our patients our own way and the flexibility there is great,” said Castro. “My leadership also gives me the freedom to go out there and get involved around the base.”

Congratulations to Castro and thank you for your dedication and leadership to the Airmen of the Wolf Pack.
