KUNSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- This week's Pride of the Pack is Staff Sgt. Lixandy Estrella Cespedes from the 35th Fighter Squadron Pantons!
The 35th FS had been without a commander support staff for about 5 weeks before Estrella Cespedes, their new CSS NCOIC, came to the rescue. And he hit the ground running.
While getting in-processed, he was also able to fix the records of 15 members and out-processed two more. He also found time get the unit back on track with their member progress reports and even caught one that was missed during the manning gap. By the end of his first week, he had also stepped up to take on the additional duty of DDR rep and ensured the Pantons had 100% accountability.
"This job is challenging," said Estrella Cespedes. "It always keeps me on my toes. My favorite part is interacting with people. Working as CSS, I'm the first stop when people come into the squadron and I get to show them how awesome we are."
His experience thus far with the Pantons, although short, has made as big of an impression on him as he has had on them.
"This is my first time being in a fighter squadron," he said. "It's mind-blowing. Getting this opportunity has been phenomenal for me."
When asked what it meant to be recognized for his efforts, he admitted that it was a complete surprise.
"I was not expecting (to be Pride of the Pack) and not this fast- I've only been here for three weeks. It shows that hard work pays off and I feel proud of myself."
Thank you, Staff Sgt. Estrella Cespedes, for keeping everything in order for our Panton pilots to be able get in the air and get after the mission. Exceptional Airmen doing exceptional work is what keeps Kunsan ready to Fight Tonight!
