The “2024 Refuge Capital Busan Cultural Heritage Night Tour” event will take place on August 16th and 17th from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

This event will take place at the Busan Museum of Modern and Contemporary History and surrounding areas, offering a range of historical and cultural programs themed around Busan’s history as the “Refugee Capital” during the Korean War.

This year’s event will feature 22 programs spread across eight themes, including a media façade projection titled “Reply, Refuge Capital 1023!”, special nighttime lighting displays, and the “Night of Refuge” performances.

Additionally, visitors can engage in eco-friendly activities such as cultural heritage plogging (picking up litter while jogging) and public transportation challenges, all aimed at raising awareness about climate change and promoting sustainable cultural heritage practices.

The event will also include a barrier-free program with performances by disabled and non-disabled artists, as well as free modern history experience programs for elementary school students from local children’s centers.

The Busan Museum of Modern and Contemporary History and Busan Citizens Park History Museum will extend their operating hours until 10 p.m. during the event to accommodate visitors.

The event will highlight local collaborations with small businesses and artists to revitalize the downtown area. Programs such as “Mildawon Tea House” and “Geumdongi’s Homestay” will be offered, along with promotional events that encourage visitors to explore local commercial districts.
