Beginning yesterday, all seven beaches in Busan — including Haeundae and Songjeong Beaches which opened on June 1 — are available for beachgoers.

The opening of the beaches for the summer season means that parasols and water play facilities will be installed at the beach and swimming in certain sections will be allowed.

To ensure the safety of beachgoers, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries has partnered with local authorities to carry out preliminary safety inspections of beach facilities. Local governments are actively cracking down on unfair practices, such as price gouging and unauthorized fees.

These measures aim to create a fair and enjoyable beach experience for all visitors. With the lifting of quarantine measures, people are eager to make the most of their summer vacations, and the collaborative efforts between the Ministry and local governments seek to provide a safe and pleasant environment for beach enthusiasts.

What to Expect at the Beaches This Summer

Local governments are introducing new attractions to lure vacationers.

Haeundae Beach in Haeundae-gu will debut a promotion zone, spanning 150m in front of the Westin Chosun Busan. This zone will feature a beach film festival, photo and game experience zones, and beach cabanas for resting.

Haeundae-gu is also transitioning the rental of vacation goods from consignment to direct management to curb price gouging, enhancing transparency from payment to sales settlement. Personal parasols will be permitted in this section, and profits will be reinvested into facility maintenance and vacationer programs.

At Gwangalli Beach, the ‘Gwangalli M Drone Light Show’ will light up the sky every Saturday with up to 1,000 drones. The beach will also feature a character zone and photo opportunities, and every Friday, a beach movie theater will offer free screenings on the sand.

Songdo Beach is adding new performance content to attract visitors. From August 3rd to 4th, it will host the Songdo Summer Sea Festival, including a creative song competition and the Hyunga Song Festival. The ‘Children’s Love Zone’ will offer a seawater pool and mini slides for family fun.

To combat the heat, cooling fog systems will be installed at Dadaepo Beach and Songdo Beach for the first time this year.

Additionally, barefoot walking and swimming on the white sand beaches will be promoted. Haeundae Beach will host a barefoot walking competition in October and has upgraded its foot-washing facilities for walkers.

Dadaepo Beach is also enhancing its amenities, including installing chairs and foot rests at the foot-washing stations to accommodate the growing number of barefoot walkers.
