The number of international flight routes from Busan’s Gimhae Airport will be significantly expanded during the upcoming winter air travel season, starting on October 27.

In addition to new routes being introduced, the number of flights will increase, offering passengers more choices as airlines ramp up their operations.

According to the Busan headquarters of Korea Airports Corporation, Gimhae Airport will operate 37 routes across 12 countries this winter, with 1,228 flights per week.

Among the airlines, Air Busan will launch a new route to Bali four times a week, starting on October 30, marking the first route from Gimhae Airport to Indonesia.

Air Busan is also preparing to introduce a Busan-Jakarta route and will resume the Busan-Hong Kong route, which was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Daily flights to Hong Kong will start on November 13, a route where Air Busan has been the market leader since 2014.

Jeju Air, which holds the second-largest share of international routes at Gimhae Airport, is also expanding its presence.

Beginning October 27, the airline will introduce new routes, including Busan-Kota Kinabalu (six times a week), Busan-Kaohsiung (three times a week), and Busan-Sapporo (five times a week).

Additionally, Jeju Air will resume flights to Saipan and Clark while increasing its Busan-Singapore service to seven flights per week. This expansion will bring Jeju Air’s total number of international routes from Busan to 15, with 99 flights per week.

Eastar Jet is also making strides in the Busan market, launching new routes to Kumamoto with daily flights starting December 19, as well as Okinawa, Chiang Mai, and Taoyuan.

This expansion of international flights is expected to greatly enhance travel convenience for passengers.

With more destinations available and increased competition among airlines, travelers will benefit from a wider range of options and potentially lower airfares.
