(Jagalchi Market)
The city of Busan recently conducted special inspections across 99 major tourist destinations, uncovering numerous hygiene and safety concerns.
The inspections, carried out from July 1st to 15th in cooperation with the Busan Tourism Association and local districts, identified 170 areas needing improvement.
The issues ranged from tourist information and sign maintenance, tourist site facility management, guidance systems such as websites, and promotional materials at tourist information centers, to enhancements needed in public restroom facilities. The city’s joint inspection team plans to report these findings to the relevant authorities and monitor progress.
Additionally, hygiene inspections of 816 restaurants and accommodations near tourist spots revealed 21 violations, including unregistered accommodation businesses, unregistered food businesses, and restaurants not following sanitary guidelines. Administrative actions will be taken against these violators, and educational initiatives will be implemented to prevent overcharging.
Also last month, a food poisoning prevention campaign was held in the Jagalchi Market area. Safety inspections of 90 locations, including amusement facilities and campsites, resulted in 121 corrective actions for issues such as building cracks, electrical leaks, and fire safety improvements. The city aims to complete these inspections by the end of the month.
