Seoul will transform three locations along the Han River into free outdoor movie theaters for three consecutive Saturday nights from August 9 to August 23.

The “2025 Hangang Movie Festival” invites citizens to enjoy seven films under the bridges of Wonhyo, Cheongdam, and Cheonho beginning at 8:00 pm each Saturday.

On August 9, Wonka (2024) will screen at Yeouido Hangang Park under the Wonhyo Bridge. Cheongdam Bridge will host Miracle (2021), and Love’s Hachuping (2024), an animated family film, will screen beneath Cheonho Bridge.

On August 16, a special lineup commemorating the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation includes Noryang: Deadly Sea (2023), The Admiral: Roaring Currents (2014), and Hansan: Rising Dragon (2022).

The festival finale on August 23 will screen Hi-Five (2025) exclusively at the Wonhyo Bridge location.

Headphones will be available to borrow (limited to 200) at Cheongdam Bridge via online reservation on August 5 and 12. Family attendance is encouraged, though attendees should check age ratings.

The festival also features a short-form video contest, Hangang Moment.zip, showcasing 10 citizen-produced films on August 9 and 16 starting at 7 p.m.

On-site and online voting will be open to the public, with a prize ceremony for five winning entries scheduled for August 23.

The event includes safety precautions, cooling towels, and water to combat the extreme heat.
