The globally renowned design fair Design Miami will hold its first exhibition in Asia this fall, choosing Seoul’s Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) as the host venue.

Titled “Illuminated: A Spotlight on Korean Design”, the event will run from September 1 to 14 at the DDP’s Iganseumun Exhibition Hall.

Organized by the Seoul Design Foundation, the exhibition celebrates Design Miami’s 20th anniversary and showcases innovative Korean design rooted in local identity and creativity. Spanning two floors and an outdoor plaza, the event promises a dynamic, immersive experience in a 1,000㎡ space.

Design Miami is a major global event that annually brings together top designers, collectors, curators, and critics. Its Seoul edition will highlight Korea’s rising influence in global design and reinforce the capital’s growing reputation as a hub for contemporary design and culture.

The exhibition coincides with Frieze Seoul (September 3–6), positioning Seoul as a key intersection of art and design on the global stage. It is also expected to stimulate tourism and commercial activity in the Dongdaemun area, drawing local and international visitors.
