Hadong-gun is advancing plans to create a unique marine tourism complex in the Geumosan area, aiming to establish the region as a premier destination for ecological and healing tourism.
Following the feasibility study and basic plan establishment service launched in June, the county intends to begin administrative procedures to officially designate the area as a marine tourism complex starting next year.
The proposed complex is designed to attract visitors year-round with facilities that include vacation accommodations, marine leisure activities, and healing-focused spaces that provide emotionally enriching experiences.
These developments are expected to position Hadong-gun as a central hub for tourism connecting Jirisan, Seomjin River, and the southern coast.
The project has already garnered significant interest from private investors, both domestic and international. During the 2024 Gyeongnam International Tourism Investment Attraction Briefing Session in September, approximately 30 investors toured the Geumosan area, noting its stunning natural landscapes and diverse tourism potential.
Additionally, representatives from Accor Ambassador Korea, a global leader in hospitality, visited the site to assess investment opportunities, further increasing attention toward the project.
Hadong-gun anticipates numerous benefits from the development of the marine tourism complex, including revitalizing the local economy, creating jobs, combating population decline, and boosting consumption of local agricultural and specialty products.
Once established, the Geumosan Marine Tourism Complex is expected to become a landmark for the county, driving continuous growth in tourist numbers and providing a new source of economic momentum.
The marine tourism complex initiative is seen as a pivotal step in transforming the Geumosan area into a globally recognized ecological and cultural destination.
By integrating sustainable development with private investment, Hadong-gun aims to draw both domestic and international visitors to experience the unique charms of the southern coast.
