Hadong-gun has announced plans to advance the designation of a marine tourism complex aimed at attracting private investment in the southern coastal region around Geumosan Mountain.
The county intends to bring distinctive marine tourism experiences to the Geumosan area, with a feasibility study and foundational planning set for completion by the end of this year.
Formal administrative procedures to designate the marine tourism complex are expected to begin early next year.
The envisioned complex will feature a range of facilities to attract year-round visitors, including resort accommodations, marine leisure activities, and healing-oriented amenities.
This project is poised to position Hadong-gun as a tourism hub, linking the natural attractions of Jirisan Mountain, Seomjin River, and the southern coastline.
The project has already garnered interest from domestic and international investors. During the 2024 Gyeongnam International Tourism Investment Attraction Briefing Session held in September, around 30 investors visited the Geumosan area, recognizing its tourism potential.
Additionally, Accor Ambassador Korea, a leading hotel operator, recently assessed the investment opportunities in the region, further boosting interest in the area’s natural assets.
Hadong-gun expects the development of the marine tourism complex to have a significant impact on the local economy, creating jobs, supporting the region’s sustainability, and enhancing the market for local agricultural products.
As the Geumosan Marine Tourism Complex develops into a landmark, it is expected to increase tourist numbers and provide new growth momentum for the area.
This marine tourism complex project is anticipated to transform the Geumosan-centered coastal area into an eco-tourism destination that appeals to both domestic and international visitors, highlighting the region’s unique natural beauty and cultural appeal.
