If you’re craving a short, meaningful escape this spring, head to Pinnacle Land in Asan with your family. Just 20 minutes from Camp Humphreys and 40 from Osan Air Base, this hillside arboretum is a hidden gem where colorful blooms, adorable animals and sweeping views quietly unravel into a perfect spring day.

As soon as I stepped inside, I found myself surrounded by endless rows of tulips and daffodils. A light breeze carried their sweet scent through the air as subtle music played from speakers. Most visitors were families with children, couples strolling together and pet owners, making the entire place feel safe, cheerful and quietly alive.

Every corner of the garden seemed to reverberate with laughter. Families paused to snap photos against backdrops of flowerbeds while pet owners carefully posed their pups among the flowers. The garden was wide and beautifully maintained. Trails led to scenic viewpoints where I could discern the outlines of Asan City and even catch a faint glimpse of Camp Humphreys across the horizon. It was the kind of place where simply sitting on a bench in silence felt like a gift.

Pinnacle Land is beautiful year-round, but spring and fall are when it truly comes alive. Spring, especially, unfolds a breathtaking landscape of thousands of tulips and daffodils.

When I visited, the tulips and daffodils were in peak bloom. I had never seen so many tulips gathered in one place where oranges, reds, pinks and yellows danced across the hills. It truly felt like stepping into a pastel dream.

Firework shows, usually held between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., add a magical atmosphere to Saturday nights during festival seasons. The schedule for fireworks may vary depending on the weather, so please check out their website.

  • April–May: Tulips and daffodils

  • Late May–June: Rose season

  • July–August: Water play area opens (fewer flowers)

  • September–Mid-November: Chrysanthemum

  • Winter: Snow sledding and ice fishing experiences

I watched children rush toward the animal zone where deer, alpacas, and goats waited peacefully. For 2,000 won - 3,000 won, visitors can purchase animal feed at a gift shop in front of the lake café.

Youngsters tiptoed toward the animals to offer snacks, their giggles rising into the spring air. Parents stood ready, cameras in hand, to capture each precious moment. Two alpaca dozed lazily in the sunlight while a cluster of deer eagerly surrounded visitors who held leafy treats. Down by the small lake, guests could also feed goldfish while enjoying a relaxing break at the café.

Outside food is not allowed, but there are several dining options inside the park. Visitors can enjoy fresh pastries at the café, while other places serve up Italian favorites like pizza and pasta, or Korean snacks such as gimbap, tteokbokki (spicy rice cake), ramyeon, port cutlet, etc.

The café near the lake is especially stunning, offering both indoor and outdoor seating with views of the water, a bubbling fountain and blooming flowers. Some visitors chatted cheerfully over coffee, enjoying the gentle breeze. Some couples simply sat side by side, sharing wistful smiles as they quietly soaked in the scenery. Pinnacle Land offers plenty of rest areas with benches, inviting you to pause and enjoy a serene moment with your loved ones.
