For those looking to check out some of the 80th Liberation Day events taking place around the city, here’s a list of activities that are planned around the city.

Busan Liberation Expedition (August 16-19) A four-day program where descendants of independence patriots, history teachers, and university students visit historic anti-Japanese independence movement sites in Yanji and Baekdu Mountain, China. The departure ceremony was held on July 14 at the Busan Metropolitan Council. The expedition aims to raise awareness of patriotism and Busan’s independence movement heritage.

Liberation Day Celebrations around Busan (August 15) Various activities are organized citywide to celebrate the 80th Liberation Day of South Korea. Includes cultural and music events, such as Korean Traditional Music Cantata at Busan Concert Hall, featuring prominent artists, Kkureogi Music Festival at Busan Citizens Hall. “Footprints of Liberation: Walking That Day” exhibition at Busan Museum highlighting various independence movements in Busan and a Liberation Day-themed summer programs for children hosted by the Busan Museum of Modern and Contemporary History..

Refuge Capital Busan National Heritage Night Tour (August 15-16) Night tours showcasing Busan’s historical legacy at Busan Port Pier 1 and Busan Modern History Museum, held around Liberation Day weekend.

M Drone Light Show (August 16) This week’s drone show at Gwangalli Beacg displays illustrations and portraits of independence fighters in commemoration of Liberation Day.
