Namhae County will offer visitors a unique opportunity to explore the historical Namhae Bridge during the Blooming Namhae festival on March 28 and 29.
The event, titled “1973 Namhae Bridge Experience,” invites participants to climb the main tower of the bridge using its longstanding inspection path, a route originally designed for maintenance workers over the past 50 years.
Completed in June 1973, Namhae Bridge was Korea’s first suspension bridge and boasted the largest span in Asia at 404 meters between its main towers.
Over the decades, the bridge has symbolized regional industrial progress and served as a critical connection for Namhae-gun, facilitating both commerce and tourism.
The experience will feature two courses.
Course 1 covers 265 meters and takes approximately 40 minutes, with four sessions held each day (eight total sessions).
Course 2 is a longer 1,100-meter route, taking around 80 minutes, with two daily sessions.
For safety reasons, participation is not permitted for pregnant women, the elderly, children under high school age, or those with physical difficulties.
Reservations will be accepted until 5 p.m. on March 27 through naver.me/xIemeAIz, and through the Namhae County Office homepage news section.
