Namsayedamchon, often referred to as the most beautiful village in Korea, has been selected as one of the “20 Star Villages” by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
The newly launched Star Village program highlights rural communities with distinctive strategies that leverage unique local resources and traditions to help revitalize the countryside economy.
Namsayedamchon was praised for the originality of its experiential programs, the quality of its accommodations and meals, its storytelling, and strong links to nearby tourism resources.
Located in Danseong-myeon, the village is known for its antique hanok houses and stone walls, earning it the title of a “living museum.” Since being designated as a rural experience and recreation village in 2011, it has offered visitors a range of hands-on cultural activities such as hanbok wearing, natural dyeing, and herbal foot baths. These programs attract around 65,000 visitors each year.
The village has also expanded into premium travel experiences. This year, it introduced “Remind Youth, Remind Wedding,” a rural creative tour program offering traditional wedding ceremonies and local sightseeing activities, designed to rekindle the spirit of youth and capture cherished memories.
