Night markets in Ulsan, which were closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak, are preparing to reopen.
According to the local government, Suam Korean Beef Night Market in Nam-gu, which has been closed for the past three years in the aftermath of COVID-19, is in full swing ahead of its reopening in the middle of next month.
Merchants are currently working on household items such as mobile sales stands and grilling tables, and are excitedly preparing for the reopening, which is about a month away.
The market plans to operate for 4 hours from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm for three days every Friday to Sunday in two seasons, March to June and September to November.
Suam Korean Beef Night Market is characterized by its specialty in that you can grill and eat high-quality Korean beef at a low price.
Since opening in 2017, it has received a great response, with an average of 1,000 visitors per day. The market plans to divide the 310m street in Suam Sangga Market into three sections, install and operate 20 to 25 stalls, and increase the number of stalls if the response is high.
Jung-gu’s ‘Ulsan Keunaegi Night Market’, the original night market in Ulsan, also dreams of a comeback.
This market, which was also closed in the aftermath of COVID-19, plans to operate a permanent night market for five hours from 7:00 pm to midnight every Thursday to Sunday from the end of April after preparations such as repair and reorganization of related facilities.
At the beginning of its opening in November 2016, this night market attracted national attention with evaluations that it had opened a new type of traditional market.
However, as a similar type of market was created and the new concept failed to activate, its popularity withered, and it closed after five years in the aftermath of COVID-19.
It plans to start on a small-scale and eventually grow into a larger market as before.
