Yi Sun-sin Sea Road (Sacheon-gun)
Sacheon City’s Yi Sun-sin Sea Road has been recognized as one of Korea’s “60 Representative Bicycle Independent Travel Courses,” gaining attention as a healing travel destination that blends tourism and leisure.
The 12-kilometer route, stretching from Seonjin-ri Fortress to Mochung Park, highlights the “First Turtle Ship Road” and offers a three-hour scenic walk or bike ride along the southern coast.
Increased interest in the course has led to major events being hosted along the route. On June 6, the Tour de Gyeongnam 2025 international cycling competition will take place, featuring a 131 km course beginning and ending at the Korea Aerospace Administration.
Cyclists will cross Sacheon Bridge and pass through the Yi Sun-sin Sea Road, offering views of Hallyeohaesang National Park.
As part of the “2025 Visit Sacheon Year” campaign, the National Cultural Tourism Interpreters’ One-Mind Walking Competition will be held on June 10, centered on Samcheonpo Bridge Park.
Participants will walk a coastal trail through Samcheonpo Cruise Ship Pier, Daebangjin Cave Port, and Gunyeong Forest, concluding back at the park, a route known as the “Samcheonpo Elephant Road.”
Sacheon City and Gyeongnam Province are also working together to develop the Yi Sun-sin Victory Road, with plans to launch educational tourism programs tied to the route.
A pilot program will be run this year, with full-scale implementation expected in 2026.
