With the summer vacation season in full swing, the Sea Life Busan Aquarium located on Haeundae Beach, is witnessing a surge in visitors.
The aquarium recently announced that it has surpassed 400,000 cumulative visitors this year.
According to Busan Aquarium officials, the hot weather has driven many to seek out indoor theme parks, boosting visitor numbers significantly.
A standout attraction is Korea’s only ‘Shark Feeding Show,’ where an aquarist feeds sharks directly. Additionally, there are feeding programs for stingrays and groupers that are well-received.
The newly introduced ‘Mermaid and Life Photo Shoot’ underwater diving performance has also become a hit.
This free performance takes place daily at 11:20 a.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 4:40 p.m..
Visitors can also enjoy daily penguin and otter feeding shows, shark ecology explanation sessions, and unique experiences like an ocean exploration ship with a transparent glass floor and a 3D virtual reality (VR) experience featuring whales and sharks.
To accommodate the summer crowds, the Busan Aquarium will open an hour earlier at 9 a.m. and extend the closing time to 8 p.m. on weekdays, aligning with weekend hours (last admission at 7 p.m.).
These extended hours will be in effect until August 18.
