The Seoul Facilities Corporation has installed firefly and moonlight-themed lighting along the Cheonggyecheon walkway, enhancing the beauty of this popular city retreat. The new lighting, which will be illuminated daily from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., is designed to create a magical atmosphere for evening strolls.

The lighting improvements span 11 locations along the Jangtonggyo to Ogan Bridge and Malgeunnae Bridge sections of the Cheonggyecheon walkway. Special laser and gobo lights (which project images onto surfaces) have been installed to create the illusion of flickering fireflies and moonlight reflecting on the water.

At Ogan Bridge, a 100-meter stretch has been adorned with laser lighting that mimics the twinkling of fireflies among the trees, giving visitors the feeling of walking through a dense forest.

Near Jangtonggyo, gobo lights create a dreamy scene where the moonlight appears to shimmer on the water, enhancing the area’s tranquil charm.

Additionally, the Corporation has been hosting unique seasonal programs, such as the “Find the King’s Treasure” event along Cheonggyecheon and has created a traditional Hanok-themed reading space in Euljiro Underground Shopping Center for fall.
