Seoul’s popular Gwanghwamun Moonlight Yoga series returns this summer with a wider variety of programs and the introduction of its first English-language yoga sessions, making it more accessible to both locals and international visitors.
Hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in partnership with MBN and the Korea Let’s Yoga Association, the main program will run every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 7:30 p.m. from June 24 to August 7 at Gwanghwamun Square.
The official opening ceremony will be held on June 20 at 7 p.m. at the Yukjo Madang stage. It will feature special showcases including acro yoga and kids’ yoga, along with a flowing yoga session accompanied by handpan music.
In response to growing interest from foreign participants, three English yoga sessions have been scheduled for June 27, July 4, and July 11.
Moroccan instructor Chaimaa, who attended last year’s event as a visitor, will return as a guest instructor for the June 27 session.
English program reservations open via Seoul’s English service site, and participation is limited to those with a passport or foreigner registration card.
A children’s yoga class, where kids can join with a guardian, will debut on July 25. A total of 60 teams (120 participants) will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.
Reservations for all programs, including the opening ceremony, begin at 2:00 p.m. on June 13 through Seoul’s public service reservation system. Participants will receive a special summer gift package featuring health and wellness items, drinks, and beauty products. Foreign participants in the English yoga sessions will also be eligible for a raffle including hanok stay vouchers and beauty gift certificates.
This year’s event aims to offer urban healing through yoga right in the heart of the city. Seoul officials hope Gwanghwamun Moonlight Yoga will continue growing as a signature K-yoga experience representing Korean wellness culture.
