The first-ever summer edition of “Seoul Light DDP” wrapped up on August 10, attracting 510,000 visitors over 11 days despite extreme heat and heavy rain.

Held at Dongdaemun Design Plaza and the surrounding Hanyangdoseong and Igansumun areas, the event featured the theme “TIMESCAPE: Texture of Light,” inviting visitors to explore seven immersive installations rather than simply viewing media façades.

Highlights included the water drop–shaped “Light Drops,” the “Fluid Memory” media façade on the city wall, and the interactive “Flux” installation.

The festival returns August 28 with “Seoul Light DDP 2025 Fall,” themed “EVERFLOW: Moving Stage,” featuring works by French conceptual artist Laurent Grasso, digital art leaders d’strict, and Taiwanese laser artist Aka Chang.

The season will also debut AI-generated media art created with OpenAI’s Sora platform.

Running until September 7, the program includes an opening laser performance and a September 2 forum with participating artists.
