Seoul AI Festa (Seoul Metropolitan Government)

Seoul City will hold the ‘Seoul AI Festa 2025’ on March 8 and 9 at DDP Art Hall 1, under the theme ‘AI Spoke to Me’.

The event aims to familiarize the public with artificial intelligence through various interactive programs, competitions, and expert discussions.

As a pre-event to the ‘Smart Life Week 2025’ in September, the festival is designed to be more accessible than conventional tech exhibitions, offering a space where citizens can experience AI in a fun and engaging way.

The festival will feature six themed zones, including ‘AI Seoul Inside,’ which introduces Seoul’s AI policies and initiatives, and ‘Eccentric AI Exhibition,’ which highlights AI-generated errors such as hallucinations in a humorous way.

Other sections include ‘AI Fun Spot’, where visitors can interact with AI-powered baristas and dancing robots, and ‘AI Flex Spot’, where families can participate in an AI and robotics competition and an AI drawing contest.

Winners will receive awards from the Seoul Metropolitan Government, and interested families can apply through the Seoul Digital Foundation website (sdf.seoul.kr) by March 5.

The festival will also host expert lectures and discussions.

On March 8, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon will engage in policy discussions with young participants, while on March 9, MIT researcher Carlo Ratti and KAIST AI Graduate School Dean Jung Song will lead a panel discussion.

Additionally, talks by Go master Lee Se-dol and neuroscientist Jang Dong-sun will explore the intersection of AI and creative thinking.

Seoul Digital Foundation Chairman Kim Man-ki emphasized that the event moves away from traditional AI discussions focused on experts, instead offering an interactive and play-oriented experience for the public. The city also plans to rebrand the foundation as the ‘Seoul AI Foundation’ to further support AI development and implementation.

The event will be covered by 1,620 citizen reporters, who will share real-time updates on social media and Seoul’s online news platform, ‘My Seoul in My Hands’ at mediahub.seoul.go.kr.

Additional details about the festival can be found on the Seoul Digital Foundation website.
