On September 29, 5,000 citizens will participate in the Seoul Walk Festival, a 6km walking event from Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) to Gwanghwamun Square.

Open to wheelchair and stroller users, the festival highlights Seoul as a pedestrian-friendly city. Participants will enjoy a unique opportunity to walk through Seoul’s bustling streets, usually filled with traffic.

The walking route includes major landmarks such as Heunginjimun, Changdeokgung, and Gwanghwamun Square.

The event will begin at 8 a.m., following warm-up stretches and a banner performance at DDP.

The route will feature various attractions, including LED light shows at Yulgok Tunnel and street performances.

Upon reaching Gwanghwamun, participants will be treated to K-pop dance shows, magic performances, and live music.

To ensure safety, more than 340 personnel will manage traffic control and assist participants.

The event will also feature “Walking Supporters” to help those with mobility challenges. Emergency vehicles and medical staff will be on standby throughout the course.

Participants who complete the 6km course will receive a limited-edition “Climate Companion Card,” Korea’s first unlimited public transit pass, as a special reward.

Due to the event, road closures will occur from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., affecting 47 bus routes.

Citizens are encouraged to use public transportation, and real-time traffic updates will be available through Seoul’s traffic information system.
