The Namhae Tourism and Culture Foundation, now in its third year of promoting the village trail selection project, has selected the tentatively named Geumsan Eunmosae Village Trail in Sangju-myeon for 2024.
The trail was chosen during the Village Baraegil Selection Committee meeting on September 13, following a competition in which five courses were submitted.
The newly selected trail received high marks for its scenic combination of Geumsan Mountain and Sangju Beach, as well as its convenient access to facilities such as Sangju Beach, Sangju Sports Park, and the Administrative Welfare Center. .
Since the village trail initiative began in 2022, notable trails such as Mansu-mugang-gil in Nammyeon, Sambyeolcho-gil in Seomyeon, and Yongso Falls-gil in Idong-myeon have been developed.
Approximately 5,600 people have completed these courses so far. Unlike trails that focus on tourism, the Maeulbaraegil is a medium-distance trail designed to encourage local residents to engage in walking.
However, in the past two years, it has been observed that the number of out-of-town hikers using the village trails exceeds that of local residents.
As a result, starting next year, the Maeulbaraegil trails will be integrated into the Baraegil 3.0 project, which will include them in the overall certification system for completing the full 256km Namhaebaraegil.
The Sangju Village Baraegil will undergo a month of route consulting, sign installations, and character design, and will officially open on Saturday, October 19.
As with other courses, the Maeulbaragil will be featured on the Baragil app, allowing users to earn a completion badge by finishing the course using the app.
