Humphreys Bicycle Giveaway

(Humphreys Bicycle Giveaway)

The USAGHumphreys Abandoned Bike Program will host its biggest single-day giveaway thus far – 120 bicycles! Starting at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 27, at warehouse Bldg. 5550 across from Humphreys West Elementary School first come, first served can receive a refurbished bicycle.

But that’s not all! There will be barbecue, hamburgers, hot dogs, and beverages while they last, sponsored by Garrison Chaplain Cho and the Camp Humphreys USO.

Directorate of Emergency Services personnel will be on-site to register the bicycles to their new owners, in accordance with USFK regulation, before the bicycles can be taken.

The Abandoned Bike Program continues to accept donations and volunteers. A bicycle, regardless of condition, can be donated at Bldg. 5550 at any time the club is meeting – every first and third Saturday of the month. Bicycle parts and items such as cleaning supplies, lubricants, WD-40, etc. are also accepted.

Bicycles collected by this program have a bicycle registration sticker attached and cross-referenced with DES to confirm the bike is abandoned. Owners have also donated their unwanted bikes.

Last year the Abandoned Bike Program gave away 150 bicycles at two giveaway events. https://www.army.mil/.../abandoned_bicycle_club_gives_122...

We are also partnering with Camp Humphreys Scout, so they can get their Bike Badge.

The scouts will be learning to fix bikes and then have to fix a bike on their own.
