From September 23 to 30, the city of Busan, alongside 16 districts and counties, conducted food hygiene inspections across 336 restaurants and food manufacturing facilities in high-traffic areas such as amusement parks, train stations, and terminals.
This proactive effort aimed to reinforce food safety during the popular autumn outing season.
The inspection found 15 establishments in violation of the Food Sanitation Act, accounting for 4.4% of locations inspected. The infractions included:
Restaurants (6 locations): Violations included failure to meet sanitary handling standards (2), lack of sanitary cap and mask usage (2), failure to implement health checkups (1), and unreported changes in business areas (1).
Food Manufacturing and Processing Plants (9 locations): Issues included violations in record-keeping of production and work logs (2), unreported changes in product manufacturing (4), lack of self-quality inspections (1), unreported foreign substances (1), and hygiene handling breaches (1).
The implicated businesses will undergo administrative actions by their respective local authorities, with follow-up checks scheduled within six months to confirm compliance improvements.
Additionally, food samples from 16 establishments selling popular items like kimbap, tteokbokki, and hamburgers were tested for foodborne bacteria, with all samples meeting safety standards.
