In July, the cost of dining out for Samgyetang in Busan exceeded 16,500 won, marking a 1.7% increase from June’s average price of 16,286 won.
This rise in prices occurred as the city experienced the traditional hot summer days of Chobok and Jungbok.
Among eight popular restaurant menu items in Busan, only Samgyetang and kimchi jjiggae saw price hikes last month, with the latter increasing slightly to 7,714 won according to True Price, a comprehensive price information portal of the Korea Consumer Agency.
Last month, in the Busan area, the average price of food including kimbap was 2,900 won, jajangmyeon was 6,143 won, kalguksu was 7,786 won, naengmyeon was 18,570 won, samgyeopsal was 16,350 won per person (200g), and bibimbap was 8,857 won, the same prices as the previous month.
The rising cost of eating out is leading more consumers to opt for home meal replacements, as dining out becomes increasingly expensive in Busan.
