2024 Seoul Beauty Travel Week, held under the banner of “Discovering the True Beauty of Seoul,” marked its conclusion with an official closing ceremony on September 29, having attracted over 20,000 guests.

The event, planned and hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) annually since 2022, has been inviting visitors and tourists to experience healthy and beautiful lifestyles in Seoul under the overarching theme of “Beautiful Life in Seoul.”

Now in its third run, this year’s Seoul Beauty Travel Week took place across the Seoul Forest Park, one of the most popular green spaces in Seoul, and the surrounding Seongdong-gu, one of the favorite destinations for today’s young people. The event featured over 50 parks, booths, and local businesses offering experiences with rest, refreshment, and rejuvenation as their keywords.

The Seoul Forest Park, one of the signature spots and the central location for the whole event as well as its rest-themed activities, offered four outdoor stages and other lounging areas that hosted a wide range of activities, including yoga, meditation, and performances, from September 27 to 29. Among the featured were the Picnic Zone by Brooklyn Works, the Rest Zone with bean bags from Yogibo, and the Sleep Zone, all of which catered to the “urban wellness forest for your rest” that the park strives to offer.

The Local Zone of Seongdong-gu featured leading local businesses, including songjungbooks, Deepin Oksu, and Moréstore, introducing the unique charms and experiences of Seongdong-gu to visitors from across South Korea and around the world. The Partners Zone hosted various brands, including Yogibo, Haru Mind, Poké All Day, and their wellness-themed programs.

Kim Jeong-mi, a woman in her 20s and resident of Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, commented: “My friends and I hadn’t been to Seongdong-gu for a while, and we decided to return this weekend after hearing about the 2024 Seoul Beauty Travel Week. We had a great time here doing things we hardly expected we’d be doing.”

Park Chan-ho, a man in his 40s and a local resident of Seongdong-gu, explained: “My family and I were thinking about taking a day trip somewhere now that the summer heatwave has ended, and we realized that we have the 2024 Seoul Beauty Travel Week going on right in our neighborhood. I’m happy that we were able to have a relaxing family time together here without having travelled far.”

Cheon Seong-ho, the owner of a local café, said: “Seongdong-gu is popular among young people these days, but the 2024 Seoul Beauty Travel Week seems to have made the neighborhood even more vibrant and energetic all week long. As a local business owner, I hope to see more programs like the Seoul Beauty Travel Week that introduces local communities to visitors.”

One of the organizers of the event also offered: “The Seoul Forest Park alone saw nearly 20,000 visitors during the Seoul Beauty Travel Week this year, showing the amount of interest it generated in the public. The exhibition at Amore Seongsu, the headquarters of the leading K-beauty brand that also happens to be located in Seongdong-gu, and the special programs had great response from the audiences. The special menu on offer from OFTT, in collaboration with Pulmuone, appears to have drawn even more guests.”

Kim Yeong-hwan, director of the Tourism & Sports Bureau at the SMG, reviewed: “We believe this year’s event has attracted a large crowd because it provided something dynamic rather than static, an opportunity to enjoy music, nature, and new experiences in the company of friends and loved ones. We will continue to develop more programs for the Seoul Beauty Travel Week that can broadcast the unique charms of Seoul and promote the sustainable development of local business scenes.”
