KUNSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- Congratulations to Senior Airman Calvin Cook, 8th Comptroller Squadron financial operations technician, on becoming this week’s Pride of the Pack!

“When I was informed of my selection, I was very surprised and very thankful,” said Cook. “It definitely felt like I was being recognized for what I’ve been accomplishing here. It’s also the first award I have ever received.”

Cook works in the travel pay section of the financial management flight. He holds several positions and titles in addition to financial operations technician, such as lead defense travel administrator, organizational defense travel administrator, travel pay technician and more.

“What drives me through the day and aids me in doing my job is my morning coffee, mid-morning coffee, afternoon coffee, lunch coffee, my dinner coffee and coffee.” Cook joked. “Besides that, I like what I do and being good at it.”

Travel pay affects mission readiness by ensuring that members can confidently permanently change station to Kunsan and know that their paycheck is handled, their voucher is handled, and their government travel card is paid off. The FMF mission is to provide the best customer service to all members assigned to Kunsan AB. They help Airmen feel financially comfortable, providing guidance and knowledge on how the financial pay system works in the Airforce and how members can work with it to meet their needs.
