The City of Busan is hosting the 6th Busan Children’s Day celebration today at 4 p.m. at Deullaknallak, the city’s children’s complex cultural space.
This annual event, established in 2019, is a testament to Busan’s commitment to promoting children’s rights and participation, having been the first metropolitan city in South Korea to receive UNICEF’s Child-Friendly City certification.
This year’s event is organized by the city with support from Dream Dream Kids, Save the Children, UNICEF Korea’s Busan Office, the Green Umbrella Child Fund, and the Busan Science and Technology Council.
The program will feature a reading of the Children’s Rights Charter, the receipt of resolutions from the Busan regional session of the Korean Children’s Assembly, and a donation ceremony.
Additionally, individuals and organizations who have contributed significantly to creating a child-friendly city will be honored with awards.
A special performance by children from the Busan City Hall Daycare Center and the Dawon Children’s Center will add vibrancy to the event.
One of the highlights is a generous donation of approximately 95 million KRW from Suyeong-ro Church. This funding will support child abuse shelters, heating and cooling for families with disabled children, and foster care programs. These contributions underscore the city’s efforts to ensure the well-being of its children.
In the City Hall lobby, an interactive activity space will run from 1 p.m. and will continue until 6 p.m.
Children participating can explore experiences such as digital character creation, science experiments, and global citizenship activities.
Themed “Dream Building in Character World,” the space provides an engaging opportunity for children to learn and play, with photo zones and giveaways adding to the fun atmosphere.
For further details, participants and interested citizens can visit the City of Busan website or the official social media pages of the participating organizations.
