(City of Busan)
The city of Busan is rolling out a wide range of lifestyle, culture, and sports programs throughout August across 15 of its districts and counties.
Under the theme “What Would You Like to Do Closer to Home?”, the initiative is designed to foster stronger neighborhood ties and encourage participation in everyday cultural and recreational activities within local communities.
Cultural Programs in Neighborhood Spaces
Local cultural projects are taking place in various neighborhoods, including mural painting initiatives and art therapy workshops in community health centers. Programs such as “Our Village Sauna” and “Capturing Daily Life” offer residents opportunities to engage in arts, crafts, music, dance, and storytelling—all within walking distance of their homes.
The “Visiting Arts Troupe” will deliver live performances at community venues, while “Mobile Cinema” brings films to public parks and welfare centers, creating accessible entertainment spaces across the city.
Sports Activities for All Ages
Districts are also hosting diverse sports programs, including youth physical education classes, circuit training, horseback riding, and marine sports. Key upcoming sporting events include:
Buk-gu Liberation Day Soccer Tournament on August 24 at Hwamyeong Ecological Park
Haeundae-gu Mayor’s Cup Badminton Tournament on August 24 at Gijang Gymnasium
Busan Gwangalli International Women’s Beach Volleyball Tournament from August 14 to 17
Infinite Challenge Run Busan on August 30 at Gwangalli Beach
Children’s physical education classes are also scheduled throughout August, with activities such as basketball, golf, swimming, climbing, and Taekwondo taking place in local centers.
Local Living, Citywide Connection
Programs are coordinated by the city and local organizations to bring meaningful cultural and physical experiences closer to residents. Many events are hosted in familiar neighborhood spaces such as health centers, village halls, and local parks, turning everyday places into hubs for creativity and well-being.
