The “Dottegi Street Festa” will be held from August 28 to 30 in the International Market area, including All Things Street and Arirang Street.
The event is designed to revitalize traditional markets facing challenges from shrinking consumer spending, offering both entertainment and practical benefits for visitors.
The festival program combines “fun to see” and “joy to live” with busking and invited singer performances, cooking shows, free tasting zones, and retro-themed photo spots.
A nighttime food stall zone will also run, serving snacks, side dishes, and cold beer. Tourists and locals alike can enjoy cultural experiences while merchants gain a boost in sales opportunities.
Visitors can also take advantage of substantial discounts and giveaways. Daily coupons worth up to 10,000 won will be distributed for purchases over 15,000 won, along with a roulette prize draw that includes an iPhone and other prizes. Food purchases of 10,000 won or more at designated stalls will also come with free beer coupons.
A unique feature this year is the “Stairs-Free Alley” event, where shops normally harder to access have set up booths at street level to make browsing easier.
The Dottegi Street Festa is the first in a series of monthly traditional market festivals that will run through October. Upcoming events include the Kolmok Fish Cake Festival at Janglim Alley Market from September 11 to 13, and the Banyeo Half-Price Beer Festival in Haeundae from October 16 to 18.
