Pet Village (Changwon Special City)
Changwon Special City held the grand opening of ‘Pet Village,’ the largest companion animal cultural complex in the Yeongnam region, on November 14.
Located in Sangbok-dong, Seongsan-gu, Pet Village aims to foster a harmonious culture where humans and pets coexist happily.
Established with a budget of 9.62 billion won from 2019 to 2024, Pet Village integrates four key facilities: an animal protection center, a companion animal culture center, a playground, and walking trails. It provides a one-stop destination for pet owners and animal lovers alike.
The Animal Protection Center consolidates three previously scattered facilities in Changwon, Masan, and Jinhae, enhancing operational efficiency and animal welfare. It features shelters, adoption counseling rooms, and veterinary clinics, creating an ideal environment for abandoned animals and potential adopters to connect.
The Companion Animal Culture Center includes amenities for pet families, such as educational and training spaces, career experience facilities, and community programs open to both pet owners and non-owners. Diverse activities promoting mutual understanding and coexistence are planned.
The Pet Village Playground, operational since June 2020, features areas for small and large dogs, agility zones, and rest spaces for families, attracting over 150,000 visitors to date. Additionally, the newly opened walking trails, introduced in August 2024, provide much-needed leisure space for visitors and their pets.”
Starting December, the Companion Animal Culture Center will offer programs such as pet behavior correction and other initiatives designed to enhance the lives of both pets and their families.
