(Dong-gu District)

In response to the rise in pet ownership among single-person households and the aging population in the downtown area, Busan’s Dong-gu Office is building a ‘pet playground’ within Sujeongsan Family Sports Park.

Located at Sujeong-dong 711-1, this 270㎡ dog park, set on part of the park’s badminton court, will receive a 30 million won investment for construction and equipment.

Following a temporary opening in December, the park is slated for full operation by March next year.

Designed for small to medium-sized dogs, the playground will feature a sand-covered ground, two play structures, and restrooms for both pets and their guardians.

While open for resident use, restrictions will apply to aggressive dogs, unregistered pets, and any animals posing potential risks to others.

This initiative marks Dong-gu’s first district-run dog park, reflecting the growing demand for pet-friendly spaces.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, approximately 12,000 of the 47,120 households in Dong-gu now have pets, with over 7,300 registered pet dogs.
