1. Hansando Island and Jeseungdang Shrine

Hansando Island is only accessible by ferry and its Maritime National Park is a top spot for some great ocean views. The island was the scene of the Battle of Hansando Island, a major conflict during the Imjin War (1592-1598). It was during this battle that Admiral Yi Sun-sin commanded Korean naval force turtle ships to the victory over Japanese warships in 1592.

Many visitors stop by Jeseungdang Shrine, Admiral Yi Sun-sin’s former headquarters, to immerse themselves into the war’s intense history and to pay respects to the hero.
