(Seoul Metropolitan Government)
27th Seoul Drum Festival returns on May 10–11 under the theme “Touch My Soul,” transforming Nodeul Island into a hub of rhythm, energy, and community participation.
Hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, this year’s edition features world-class performances, interactive programs, and open workshops, all free to the public.
Highlighting citizen involvement, the signature “Seoul March 25” parade includes 25 percussion teams and 200 citizens who trained together for four months.
The parade will take place on both days, with opportunities for on-the-spot participation. Over 100 volunteers known as “Drum Fans” will also support festival operations.
International stars include former Earth, Wind & Fire drummer Sonny Emory, Japan’s Toe drummer Kashikura Takashi, Argentina’s Mariana Baraj, and acclaimed Korean musicians.
Cross-genre collaborations will blend post-rock, traditional Korean music, and jazz. Performers also include rising jazz star Kim Ye-chan, blind marimbist Jeon Kyung-ho, and 2024 Drummer of the Year SHINDRUM.
Family-friendly activities like instrument-building challenges, drum circles, digital rhythm games, and upcycled percussion crafts will run from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. across the island. Specialized workshops and masterclasses by global percussionists will deepen the experience for enthusiasts.
Events will be held across the Festival Stage (outdoors), the Yamaha Drum Stage (indoors), and other Nodeul venues.
