Gyeongnam province has emerged as one of Korea’s most celebrated travel hotspots, securing top rankings in the 2024 National Travel Survey conducted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute.
The province ranked first in natural scenery satisfaction and placed second in overnight stays, day trips, accommodation satisfaction, and travel expenditures, confirming its appeal as a residential tourism destination.
Gyeongnam drew over 14.48 million same-day visitors and 11.31 million overnight travelers, positioning it as a region where tourists stay longer to fully enjoy its offerings.
Notably, it led the nation in the use of family homes for lodging, and ranked second and third in private lodgings and pensions, respectively.
The province also placed second in same-day tourism spending with 1.05 trillion won, reflecting a trend of value-driven tourism.
Travelers praised Gyeongnam’s clean nature, scenic landscapes, and accessible cultural sites.
Backed by strategic tourism policies, Gyeongnam continues to rise as a travel destination where nature, comfort, and culture meet.
