The Seoul Museum of Craft Art will host a special event titled “Petnic” on October 9th, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., in celebration of Hangul Day.

This innovative program, designed for both pet owners and their dogs, offers an opportunity to engage in creative activities while enjoying a relaxed picnic in the museum’s outdoor garden.

Participants will create dog toys using upcycled sock yarn, a sustainable craft that repurposes waste materials from the sock manufacturing process. The activity will be guided by video tutorials, ensuring ease of participation for all skill levels. Necessary materials, along with picnic essentials such as shade tents, mats, and portable tables, will be provided at no cost.

The program is structured to accommodate up to 20 small dogs, each accompanied by their owners and family members. With 15 pre-registration slots fully booked, an additional 5 spots will be available on-site for participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Each team can include a small dog with a shoulder height of up to 40 cm.

This initiative is part of the museum’s broader effort to create interactive community programs that combine sustainability with leisure. Feedback from the inaugural event held in June has been incorporated, expanding participation to include more families and increasing the focus on small-breed dogs.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable environment, participants must adhere to six essential “Petiquette” guidelines:

  1. Dogs must be kept on a leash no longer than 2 meters at all times.

  2. Maintain a respectful distance from others.

  3. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.

  4. Muzzles are required for dogs displaying aggressive behavior.

  5. Permission must be obtained before allowing dogs to interact with other animals.

  6. Pets must be registered and wear identification tags.

This unique event offers a meaningful way to spend Hangul Day, fostering community engagement and providing a memorable experience for families and their pets.
