shared bicycle program in Jinju City (Jinju City)

Jinju City has announced the free trial of its new shared bicycle system, Hamotago, set to begin on November 18.

Ahead of the trial, Mayor Cho Gyu-il conducted an on-site inspection on November 13 to assess safety, operational efficiency, and convenience for citizens, even taking part in a hands-on rental experience.

Designed to provide easy access to bicycles for those who do not own one, Hamotago aims to promote a culture of cycling in Jinju, making bicycles a viable alternative for local travel.

The initial rollout includes 35 docking locations: 17 along the Namgang River and 18 in Chungmugong-dong, where bicycle paths are well developed.

As one of South Korea’s ‘Top 10 Bicycle Hub Cities,’ Jinju City intends to carefully evaluate system stability, the ease of rental and return, and bicycle maintenance during this pilot phase before launching the program citywide.
