Busan’s inaugural long-distance direct flight route to Bali, Indonesia, is set to take off from Gimhae Airport at 5:50 p.m. today.

Marking a new chapter for the city, this is Busan’s first non-metropolitan area long-distance flight, addressing a longstanding need for direct international access without requiring a transfer at Incheon or other airports.

The Busan-Bali route covers 5,073 kilometers with an approximate flight time of 6 hours and 50 minutes.

Operated by Air Busan, which secured the route rights amid applications from five airlines, this service offers four flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Departures are scheduled for 5:50 p.m. from Busan, with returns arriving at 9 a.m. the following day.

The service utilizes the A321NEO aircraft, accommodating 220 passengers with a maximum cruising range of 6,100 kilometers.

Busan City, along with the Korea Airports Corporation and local officials, has emphasized that this route is a step toward making Gimhae Airport a central hub for international travel in the southern region.

In addition to regional access to Bali, future plans are underway to establish further long-haul routes to destinations like Helsinki and Warsaw, expanding Busan’s global reach.
