The City of Seoul, in collaboration with Tetra Pak, has unveiled a new “Nanbit Garden” within World Cup Park.

This garden, developed through a public-private partnership, aims to symbolize the ecological recovery of the former landfill site, Nanjido, while emphasizing environmental sustainability.

The project, launched under a mutual agreement between the Seoul Metropolitan Government and Tetra Pak, showcases the theme of “Earth’s Resilience.”

The garden’s design highlights the evolution of plant life, beginning with early Paleozoic plants like mosses and ferns, transitioning to grassland species such as reeds and silvergrass, and culminating in a drought garden that reflects a future Earth impacted by climate change.

Nanbit Garden features a diverse array of 26 perennial flower species, including fragrant boneset and aster, along with 16 types of shrubs, such as viburnum and boxwood. Scattered throughout the garden are earth-shaped sculptures inscribed with messages encouraging environmental preservation.

The garden also includes walking paths and seating areas, providing a tranquil space for visitors to relax and reflect on the significance of ecological recovery and sustainability.
