The 2025 Seoul International Garden Expo officially opened on May 22 at Boramae Park, launching a five-month run with 111 gardens and its largest scale to date.

The city expects the event to foster regional cooperation and boost the local economy while offering diverse cultural and ecological content.

The opening ceremony featured performances including a musical gala and open-air garden concert, along with interactive exhibitions like a plant hospital, terrarium displays, and the Wood Culture Festival.

The expo features five internationally selected show gardens and 33 themed gardens created by companies, public agencies, and citizens under the theme of “Connecting People and Nature.”

Visitors can enjoy lifestyle experiences such as garden weddings, workation zones, digital healing gardens, and installations like the Pokémon Metamon Garden and Dior Garden.

Accessibility is a major focus this year, with wheelchair rentals, sign language and multilingual tours, and inclusive layouts ensuring all ages can enjoy the festival safely. Special programs for children and pet families are also included.

To support local businesses, a Garden Stamp Tour will offer discounts at nearby shops in Dongjak and Gwanak Districts. A “Garden Market” and direct-produce sales will be held onsite to further connect visitors with small vendors and eco-friendly goods.

The event runs until October 20. Full details and schedules are available at festival.seoul.go.kr/garden.

Next year’s expo is scheduled to take place at Seoul Forest Grand Park.
