Seoul will unveil 12 panoramic Skyview observatories by 2026, allowing residents and visitors to take in breathtaking cityscapes from various mountain locations.

Inspired by world-class observation decks such as New York’s Edge and Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands SkyPark, these new landmarks aim to elevate Seoul’s tourism appeal.

The city plans to complete seven observatories this year, including four in Namsan, one in Yongmasan, one in Hoamsan, and one in World Cup Park’s Haneul Park.

Three Namsan observatories — Sunset Observatory, Valley Bridge, and Wind Observatory — are part of the Namsan Sky Forest Project, ensuring accessibility for all visitors, including those with mobility challenges.

The Namsan Maru Observatory, set against a lush forest backdrop, will feature a transparent floor and glass fencing, offering an immersive experience of nature and city views.

Additionally, the Yongmasan and Hoamsan observatories, slated for completion in August and December, will incorporate forest leisure facilities such as Sky Shelters and Treehouses, enhancing Seoul’s eco-tourism appeal.

By December, the Haneul Stairway Observatory in World Cup Park will provide a picturesque ascent through metasequoia-lined paths, offering a serene stopover with panoramic views of the Han River and Seoul skyline.

Seoul’s long-term vision extends to 2026, with plans for two forest retreat observatories in Umyeonsan and Bongsan, themed observation decks in Baekryeonsan and Yongwangsan, and a café observatory in Inwangsan.

By 2028, a timber-themed healing and garden program facility in Bukhansan will further enrich the city’s green spaces.

To preserve Seoul’s natural ecosystems, the city will employ eco-friendly construction techniques, such as decking around trees and closing unofficial trails to prevent forest damage.
