Namhae County announced that the construction of the Sol Beach Namhae Hotel and Resort, a major private investment project led by Daemyung Sono Group, is nearly complete and set to open on July 5.

The development is expected to bring substantial local tax revenue and stimulate the regional economy.

The project began with an investment agreement in 2013 and entered full-scale construction in 2023.

As of the end of May, construction was 98% complete. The resort includes a 451-room hotel and facilities such as an infinity pool, banquet hall, year-round ice rink, and various dining and leisure spaces.

Officials estimate that over 500,000 people will visit the resort annually, including 110,000 Sono Hotel & Resort members.

The project is also contributing to local job creation, of the 257 employees being hired, 153 have been selected so far, with around two-thirds being Namhae residents.

Construction has already had a significant impact, with 338,000 worker-days logged and 11.6 billion won spent on local construction equipment. In total, the project has injected 23 billion won into the regional economy, including spending on materials like ready-mix concrete.

Sol Beach Namhae is expected to generate at least 31.7 billion won in new tax revenue for the region.

Contracts with local food suppliers have begun, and Namhae County will also operate a tourism promotion center within the resort to coincide with its opening.
