The Tour de Gyeongnam 2024 is currently underway along the stunning southern coast of Gyeongnam Province, running from November 7 to 10.
Modeled after the iconic Tour de France, this competitive cycling event showcases Gyeongnam’s coastal beauty and the historic sites of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, attracting both domestic and international attention.
Cyclists will tackle a challenging 300km course over four days, with each leg of the race highlighting a different city: Tongyeong (November 7), Geoje (November 8), Namhae (November 9), and Changwon (November 10).
The Geoje segment, starting from Geoje Sports Park, covers a 94.8km course that includes picturesque stops at Haegumgang, Hakdong Black Pearl Mongdol Beach, and Dongbu Reservoir.
This event features elite competitors ranked in the top 300 of the Korea Cycling Federation’s Masters Rankings.
Plans are already in motion to elevate the event into the Tour de Gyeongnam 2025, a UCI-recognized international road cycling race drawing world-class athletes.
To ensure the race’s smooth and safe execution, city officials have implemented traffic controls.
On November 8, traffic along the Geoje section will be managed from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a complete closure of the Sanchon Convenience Store to Seongjeong Intersection Rotary from 12:20 p.m. to 12:40 p.m.
Additionally, bus services between Sanchon Convenience Store and Geoje Girls’ High School will be suspended from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
