With its sweet tastes and rich nutrition, Korean melon (chamwe) is a beloved fruit among Koreans. Until the 1960s, the Japanese enjoyed a similar breed of chamwe melon called makuwa (or oriental melon), which is now a rare fruit due to the increase in popularity of honeydew.
