Tongyeong City will kick off a series of cultural and artistic performances in the second half of the year with the 64th Tongyeong Hansan Battle Festival, set for August 8–14, at the Ganggu-an Marine Performance Center.

Since opening last year in the heart of the city’s tourism district, the Ganggu-an Marine Performance Center has become a cultural hub for both residents and visitors, hosting events such as the Nighttime Tourism Specialized City Program, the Tongyeong International Music Festival Fringe, busking shows, and the Night Fringe.

Its evening performances, framed by sunsets over the sea and Nammangsan Mountain, have proven to be a highlight for audiences.

Built on a 700-square-meter floating concrete pontoon anchored by four 30-ton concrete blocks secured with cross-linked chains, the venue offers exceptional stability and buoyancy. A tide-responsive stage design resolves the challenge of height changes caused by tidal differences, ensuring a consistent performance experience.

During the Hansan Battle Festival, audiences can enjoy daily regional and traditional performances, including a Joseon Navy Military Martial Arts Demonstration, Tongjeyeong Shout, Namhaean Byeolsingut, Tongyeong Ogwangdae, and Seungjeonmu.

In addition, seasonal special programs such as the “2025 Music Wave Regular Performance” will take place every Saturday at the venue through the end of October.
