KOREA
walking trail in Namsan, Seoul

(Seoul City Government)

Seoul City has unveiled 10 new “City Wind Path Gardens” along the northern loop of the Namsan Dulle-gil, enhancing one of the city’s beloved walking spots.

This initiative, in partnership with the Korea Forest Service, aims to improve air quality and provide a pleasant natural experience for residents and visitors alike.

The 3.4 km northern loop, stretching from the Namsan Bus Stop near the National Theater to Baekbeom Plaza, now features 10 themed gardens.

These gardens are strategically placed in underutilized areas along the trail, focusing on planting carbon-absorbing shrubs and flowers to help combat the urban heat island effect.

Each garden has its own name and story, created in collaboration with 10 landscape artists to enhance both the ecological and aesthetic appeal. Highlights include the “Garden of Contemplation,” “Wind Garden,” “Shaded Garden,” and “Wild Garden.”

Visitors can enjoy seasonal blooms such as spider lilies, gentians, and azaleas.

The new gardens are designed to encourage leisurely walks and create spaces for relaxation, offering a refreshing escape from the city’s hustle.
